Kamala Harris- A brief look at her journey

(B-News, November 5, 2024) "This race is more than just a race between two parties or two candidates. It's about whether we're left with a country where every American can live freely, or whether we're left with a chaotic, divided country." Kamala Harris tells Americans so in the last message of the election campaign against Trump.

In just a few hours, will the history of America, which has never sent a woman to the presidency, change? Regardless of the outcome of the presidential election, Kamala Harris, who is competing side by side with Trump, has already changed American history.

Who is Harris? Here is a brief look at her journey.

Kamala Devi Harris was born in 1964 in Oakland, California. Her parents immigrated to America. Mother is an Indian woman. Father is Jamaican. Growing up in this hybrid cultural background, Kamala begins her life as a lawyer. She became the Attorney General of California in 2010. Later, Kamala entered politics and was elected as a United States Senator in 2017. As a result of this journey, Kamala will become the US Vice President in 2021 under President Joe Biden. She is the first American woman to hold the office of Vice President and the first person of black and South Asian descent to hold that position.
